What are the differences between prenatal multivitamins such as PregVit® and MaternaTM?

PregVit® was designed to maximize iron absorption and reduce nausea often associated with taking a prenatal supplement. Pregvit® and MaternaTM are the two best-selling brands, but each pharmacy also offers a house brand prenatal multivitamin.

PregVit® is separated into two tablets: Calcium is contained in a tablet, and the iron in the other, combined with vitamin C which increases its absorption. According to the manufacturer, the tablets should be taken at different times of the day, in order to optimize the absorption of iron and calcium.
